164 applicants from all over the world have submitted their research proposals for admission to the PhD program in Human Rights, Global Politics - Legal, Philosophical and Challenges 2019-2020 before the deadline on June 3. Applications submitted by this date will be considered for only 5 fully funded doctoral programs offered by Sant’Anna School.

The doctoral program under the supervision of Professor Barbara Henry (Political Philosophy) of the Dirpolis Institute (Law, Politics and Development, is designed to promote a critical understanding of global political phenomena and their relation to human rights as a whole. The program will deepen students’ expertise, expand their research skills and collaborate with leading scholars in an environment that supports and celebrates academic excellence. Sant’Anna School’s world-class teaching will cover a wide range of research disciplines: Human Rights and Global Politics, as well as multi-disciplinary topics such as Agricultural, Food and Environmental Law, Public International Law, Political Economy and Political Philosophy .

The program aims to relate the political, legal, and philosophical aspects of our traditional policy and decision making to contemporary issues in the private sector and the third sector, in the professional fields of law, public administration, diplomacy and international relations. Specifically, students will have the opportunity to carry out research on political, social and economic challenges that affect the voluntary sector and raise concerns about the national and international vision for a shared society.
